The Ross Penyard Singers presented and performed ‘The Musical World of Lerner and Loewe’ in front of a packed house at The Venue on 21st May 2016. Under the expert leadership of our Choirmaster, Mr John Frith, and ably supported by pianist Phil Holland, we presented a range of medleys from ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Camelot’ and ‘Paint Your Wagon’. In addition, a number of soloists sang excerpts from ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Gigi’ and ‘Camelot’, topped by John’s excellent rendition of ‘How to Handle a Woman!’, and some passable impersonations of Maurice Chevalier.
Following the success of our concert, we were invited to perform at the Ross-on-Wye ‘Mayor-Making’ ceremony at the Larruperz Centre on the evening of 6th June. While the new mayor was being dressed in his raiments, we sang excerpts from ‘My Fair Lady’ to the audience, again conducted by John and supported by Joe Scrivener on the keyboard.
