The Elizabethan Years

Saturday 20th May, 7 pm, St Mary’s Church Ross-on-Wye. A concert in memory of Liz Gwynn

Celebrating music from Great Britain and the Commonwealth during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II

We all recently celebrated the coronation of the new King Charles III but on Saturday, the Ross Penyard Singers took a look back at the music of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in their concert ‘The Elizabethan Age’.

The music took the audience on a tour of the Commonwealth, with music from South Africa, New Zealand and Jamaica, as well as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There were songs from the different decades of Her Majesty’s reign, including music by the Beatles and Abba.

The Singers were conducted by their fantastic Musical Director Pippa Wright, and accompanied on the piano by the very talented Simon Peberdy.

Raffle tickets were sold in the interval in aid of the Ross Cancer Support Group. This charity was chosen by the Singers in memory of their dear friend, and founding member of the Singers, Elizabeth (Liz) Gwynn, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
