Classic Concert

After over 2 years of close-down thanks to the COVID pandemic, Ross Penyard Singers’ 2022 ‘Classic Concert’ took place on December 4th in the magnificent nave of St Mary’s Church, Ross-on-Wye.

The programme was put together by Musical Director Peter Johnson and included Faure’s ‘Requiem’, the ‘Credo’ from Puccini’s ‘Messa di Gloria’, ‘Zadok the Priest’, Mozart’s exquisite ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ and Bruckner’s ‘Locus Iste’.

Most of these pieces were supported by the church organ, masterfully played by Adrian Taylor. Solos were performed by Laurie Pegrum (tenor), Josie Driscoll (soprano) and Peter Wells (baritone). Many of those in the audience commented on the high quality of the singing.

This was Peter Johnson’s last performance with Ross Penyard Singers and it provided a fitting tribute to the leadership and encouragement he has given to the singers over many years.

The next concert from Ross Penyard Singers is scheduled for Saturday 28th May – our twentieth anniversary – with a selection of some of our favourite musical pieces to entertain the audience.

We are always on the look out for new members. We are a nonauditioning, sociable choir who meet on Wednesdays at 7pm at Christ Church, Edde Cross Street. If you would like to come along, please contact our Membership Secretary Jean Brown on 01989 565372
